The DPDP Rules 2025 were notified on 13 November 2025 with an 18-month transition. Consent manager provisions apply from 13 November 2026, and the main data fiduciary obligations, including security safeguards, breach notification and data principal rights, apply from 13 May 2027. Starting a gap assessment now leaves time to fix systems before the deadline. See our DPDP Act compliance checklist.
Under CERT-In's cyber security directions, covered incidents such as unauthorised access, malware infections and data leaks must be reported to CERT-In within six hours of detection, and system logs must be kept in India for 180 days. This is separate from DPDP breach notification to the Data Protection Board.
Published 2026 pricing puts a lift-and-shift AWS migration at about ₹3–15 lakh, an SME migration of up to 50 servers at ₹10–30 lakh, and re-architecture at ₹40–80 lakh or more. The monthly cloud bill is separate, typically ₹40,000–5,00,000 for a mid-sized business. Budget for 2–3 months of running old and new systems in parallel.
